Mystery solved

A time ago I bought some furniture from a friend. At the time I didn´t know the origin of them, but I think I have solved the mystery now. I am not sure about the scale, but I think they are a little bit bigger than 1:12. The furniture have both a charachter of being homemade and factory-made.

After googling a lot and also asking other dollhouse collectors I surprisingly found the answer in a book in my own bookshelf. The book's title is Dockskåp. En värld i miniatyr and the text is written by Lena Lidbeck. The following picture is from that book.

According to the book the furniture is from the 30s and 40s and impacted by the functionalistic ideas. The furniture was designed with straight lines, smooth surfaces and square-shaped legs. Svenska Slöjdföreningen arranged at this time courses at Housewife associations (husmorsföreningar) and schools. To these courses they designed these prototypes of furniture and they were used together with plans of apartments. (Lidbeck & Nilsson Dockskåp. En värld i miniatyr, Stockholm: Berghs Förlag AB: 1991, p. 60).

In the following I will show more of my furniture of this kind.

Dissertation present

Last friday a defended my thesis for a doctoral degree. In the evening we had a marvelous party and I got a very nice present from my collegues at work. I think the present fits me very well, but with a more unusual interior.
