Lundby 1957

One of my newest purchases to the collection is a Lundby house from 1957. I think it still was for sale in 1959, because in a Lundby catalogue from 1959 a similar house is in a picture. It has original shape of the wallpapers and floors and had also got curtains when I got it from the seller. And the curtain in the bathroom is in plastic material.

I decided to decorate it with mainly furniture from Lundby and as a guideline I used the Lundby catalogue from 1959. I am not sure if I am satisfied with the decoration yet but in the following pictures you can see how it looks like at the moment.

I start the tour in the bedroom on the top floor. All furniture is from Lundby which the beds and the bedroom furniture are presented in the Lundby catalogue from 1959. I am pretty sure that the bed clothing is original (see picture below). I love the armchair from Lundby which probably is from the mid-1950s. It cost me a lot of money to buy but I don´t regret it at all. The carpet is embroidered and I don´t know how old it is, but I think it fits rather well here.

In the middle room upstairs I chose to decorate with a rococo sofa and chairs from Lundby which are presented in the catalogue from 1959. The buffet is also Lundby and probably a little bit older than 1959. It is missing one leg but I am going to fix a new one eventually. The lamp on the floor is probably from Germany and could be from the 1960s. I am not sure about the date.

I think the curtain in the kitchen is rather cute. The table and chairs are Lundy’s and are part of the furniture in the catalogue from 1959. The kitchen cupboard and the stove is from Lundby and I think the sink unit is also from Lundby but probably older than 1959. The carpet is old and homemade by someone sometime. The wall clock was in the house when I got it.

Finally I will show you a part of the living room where the family is sitting in the sofa and an armchair. I am not sure about the date of the sofa and armchairs but I think it is from Lundby and late 1950s (perhaps early 1960s). At least I am sure that the bookshelf is from Lundby and late 1950s.

Lerro 1957

Today I am going to present a house which was one of my first old houses. It is a Lerro house which was dated by the seller to 1957. I have checked it up and it could be correct. The seller lived in Anneberg, a small village outside Gothenburg. Siv, a friend of mine was very helpful and picked it up for med and took care of the arrangement for the delivery up to my place. Thank you Siv for your help. And therefore have I named the house "Anneberg".

Säljaren bodde i Anneberg, utanför Göteborg.

The floors, wallpapers etc. are all in original condition. I have tried to decorate it with furniture from the mid-1950s and at the moment it is furnished with a mix of furniture mainly from Lerro and Lundby. It had no curtains when I bought it so I had to fix that. In the bedroom I have put up and old  curtain while it in the other rooms is newly made curtains homemade by me.

We start the tour in the kitchen. The table and chairs is Lundy’s from 1950s but the kitchen units are Lerro’s and the refrigerator is rather rare to find, so I am so lucky to have it. The wallpapers I think is rather boring but this is what it was in many kitchen and bathrooms in dollhouses from the 1950s.

In the sofas in the living room, two gentlemen are sitting drinking Brandy. The sofas are made by Lerro and are from the mid-1950s. The serving trolley (I showed you that in a former post) I just love.

In the other corner of the living room a popular chair "Fladdermusfåtöljen" from 1950s is in a miniature size. It is made by Lundby and was made in a couple of different colors.

Upstairs in the bedroom the beds are made by Lundby and I think they have their original bed clothing left. The curtain is an old curtain which I have put up. The Picture on the wall is from Tuna Kullan which I bought in a second hand store for over 20 years ago and it had finally got a home. The rocking chair I think is Lundby from late 1950s. The lamp in the ceiling is probably from 1960s but I think it fits in very well here.

A renovated Lerro 1961

For a couple a months ago I bought a house on an auction. I locked at the pictures the seller presented and it looked great. I thought that wallpapers, floor and everything was original from 1960s. The seller didn´t wrote that it were and I didn´t ask either. I was so disappointed when the house was delivered and I realized that three rooms out of five had wall papers from 1980s and most of the wooden details was repainted. First I wanted to just get rid of the house and I was so disappointed of myself to not have checked it up properly. Why didn´t I ask if the house was in original shape? The middle room on upper floor and the big room on ground floor were still in original shape. Luckily, nothing was done to the floors.

After a couple of days I tried to see if I could find the old wall papers underneath the new ones, but the new wallpapers where fasten far too well. It was not possible to take the new ones off. At least I found out that all of the rooms had had the same wall paper on the back-wall and the same wall paper on the right side walls and the same, brown paper on the left side walls. Instead I decided to restore the house to a 1960s shape with wall papers from that time and tonight I have finished that work. I also got rid of some of the stains on the floors with help of a rubber. The house is a Lerro, probably from 1961 and is now redecorated to a shape that almost looks like I wanted it.

In the bathroom I redecorated the walls with brown paper, as it used to be in some dollhouses from that time. In the bedroom and the kitchen I used original wall papers from 1960s. The pillar to the stairs on the top floor is still missing. I am going to fix it as soon as I got the wooden pillar. I have started to arrange the furniture and below I present to you some pictures of the work in progress.

A cottage from 1940s

Long time no see. I am so sorry for neglecting this blog for a while, but I have had too much too do at my work. But today I am going to present for you a new house in my collection.

The house is homemade by a carpenter who made it as a Christmas present for his 4 years old daughter in the mid-1940s. The wall papers, floors and paintings are all in original shape, which I found to be very nice. Some damages over the years have happened but it is not so severe. The house was named "Lill Glottra" which means little Glottra, after the main house where the family lived. The house had homemade furniture too in the beginning but unfortunately for me they are not a part of the house any more. So I have decorated it with furniture from the 1940s.

This is the living room with a piano and a couch. My mother had the furniture’s which is in brown wood when she was a child in the 1940s.

The kitchen is furnished with American furniture of plastic. The kitchen units are from Renwal, made in USA, I Think from around 1940s. The same goes for the table and chairs, while the red baby carriage is made by BRIO and was my mothers in her childhood in the 1940s. The left inner wall have lost the original wallpaper and had been brown as the other two walls.

At last I will show you the bedroom where I think the wall papers are so lovley. It is furnished with beds which have German origin and a rocking-chair with an unknown history. The sewing machine is in plastic and has no label to tell us where it is from, but it been also my mothers. I was not allowed to play with the sewing machine when I was a child and that I now think was lucky because I was rather hard on my toys and not so much have survived.
